The Red Dress
Cold-forged, polychrome cut steel, 2002, about 5" high

I made this dress at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT in early spring, 2002. I cut out the dress and beat it with a ball-peen hammer to create texture. The small falling figures, painted with gold paint, are mounted on 2-inch posts, welded to the dress, to cast shadows. When it's ouside, the sun gleams off the gold figures and casts deep shadows on the dress behind them.
